I Am
I graduated a full 4 years from Hollins College, a private women’s college in Roanoke, Virginia. My junior year I studied abroad in Paris, France, where I lived with a family and their two children. Mornings I and walked past L’Arc de Triomphe on my way to school. I studied and spoke a lot of French, and pretty much had all sorts of cool adventures that you’d expect from a creative optimistic energetic 18 year old.
After college, armed with a Liberal Arts degree, I attended, and graduated from The Art Institute of Houston (2 years), with a degree in Visual Communications.
Then along came Apple and digital printing
I worked about 3 years at a Kinkos (before they merged with FedEx), which is where my education about computers, and offset printing became more deeply founded. I learned so much working there. I got to see the printing process up-close. I learned how to create metal plates that the 2-color presses used for print jobs. (Another run was necessary for 4 color work.) I saw the 2- or 4- color printing process first-hand which was invaluable to a graphic artist…as you might imagine.
With the arrival of apple computers came the ability to do magazine and book layouts digitally on a computer. It was a major change in the way printing happened and opened up new doors for the art of graphic design.
I am a creative person who loves what I do. I will listen to you and get a clear understanding of what you want to accomplish. Together we will construct the map and strategy that works best for you. I can build you a wordpress website that you will be proud to send inquiring minds to.
Imagine That
Imagine you are at a party, and someone asks, “So, what do you do?” You can say, “I have written this book that explores this, and that, and the other thing. Its really quite fantastic. You can go to my website and read all about it.”
Wouldn’t it be a sweet relief to say: Can go to my website and read all my business.
Would’t you just love it if you could confidently refer someone to your site and know that what they find there represents you and your business to a T? There may not be a connection between income growth and what we eat, but I am pointing to the comfort you can have with a website that represents you just like your mother or your best friend..or your Hollywood agent! Your website can be a useful business building tool designed and created to communicate your message and accomplish your goals.
I love the thrill I feel when the design comes together. And my clients love that thrill, too.
How I am different:
I have heard too many stories where a persons web designer cannot be found to make site changes, OR their number has been disconnected or are other wise incommunicado leaving you with no clue how to access your own site. Two points: Accessibility and Ownership.
Accessibility: I promise to be accessible to you, and respond to your questions and concerns within 1-2 days.
Ownership: Your website is YOURS. I may have created the images and structure, but you paid for it and it is yours. You will always have the passwords and access to your own website dashboard. You may not know what to DO with them (which is why you are hiring me) but you will have them nonetheless.
I want us to resonate:
Why do I work for myself instead of anyone else? because I want to do things my way. Let me rephrase that: My way is my niche and my particular way of creating. You see what I do, how I sound, what I create and you resonate with that, and choose to work with me. We talk, we get a feel for each other to determine how the fit will work. Will it be peanut butter and whiskey, or grape jelly and peanut butter? Does either one work? Lets see if there is a…….wait for it…resonance! I resonate with my clients, and they resonate with me. That is the dynamic I and the niche I am looking to build up from. I am aiming for a win-win.
We all have our struggles, and we all have our peace. After the struggle of the creative process, when you are so pleased with what I have made, and what we have created together, it is one moment of peace for me.
